The MRC purchases a huge amount of equipment and consumables. As a public body though, all major purchases must go through a tendering process; however many of the scientists throughout the organisation had a tendency to just order things directly. They therefore needed an internal campaign to educate all their staff on the legal requirement to use the tendering process.
We had already established a regular internal newsletter ‘The Facilitator’ which provides information on the benefits of purchasing through the MRC’s procurement department. To support this we designed and produced a range of posters and leaflets that were placed in public areas (staff rooms, canteens, receptions, etc) of all the MRC sites worldwide. Key staff were featured as champions of the procurement process.
