C Force Sponsorship was born with Gary Crumpler and Tennant at the helm providing consultancy for David Coulthard, who was about to become an F1 driver, and Russell Athletic who were moving into sponsorship with Formula 1 and rowing. We negotiated and managed the sponsorship of David Coulthard by the Farah and Savane brands, secured sponsorship of the Simtek Formula 1 team by Russell Athletic and helped MTV exploit their sponsorship of Simtek. Russell Athletic’s marketing programmes rapidly spread into full sponsorship exploitation campaigns, using one of the country’s greatest sporting duos—rowers Redgrave and Pinsent—to establish the brand in the UK sports trade. By the time they won their gold medal in 1996, C Force Communications had arrived, concentrating on business-to-business campaigns for trade and technical companies. If you check the visitor stats of your website using Google Analytics you’ll probably be surprised just how many people are already visiting your site from a mobile device. Then compare this to a year ago and you’ll see that the trend is increasing. Typically you’ll find 20 to 25% of your site visitors today are using either a smartphone or tablet as opposed to a desktop PC to view your website, and it is anticipated that in the next year or so this figure will exceed 50% for the first time. So what? Most smartphones are pretty good these days at allowing you to view almost any website, but is it really a good user experience? When you look at your site on a phone do you constantly have to zoom in and out to read the content? Are the menus easy to use with a finger rather than a mouse? Sponsorship advice... --- --- ## Portfolio Client Queen are one of the best loved rock bands in the world, formed in 1971 by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. Their official international fan club is in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running fan club for a music artist. Brief Members of the fan club receive at least two issues per year of the A5-sized magazine. When the previous designer retired in 2015 cforce took over the design and artwork of the magazine, as our director, Tennant, has been a life-long supporter of the band. The magazine features news about the band and the individual members as well as exclusive articles relating to the band’s past and present activities. Each issue also includes a letter written by either Brian May or Roger Taylor just for the magazine. Approach We kept the same fundamental design of the magazine, but updated it with a more professional and modern layout. The finished artwork is printed and sent to thousands of members worldwide and the digital version is made available through the Queen fan club website. --- Client RoofCERT is the UK’s only national roofing accreditation scheme that gives clients and homeowners the confidence that the people working on their roofs can do the job properly. Brief A website had been built by another agency at an extortionate cost that didn’t work properly had loads of content errors and was difficult to maintain. cforce were asked to produce a new website that was fit for purpose. Approach By using WordPress and building a bespoke theme around the new RoofCERT branding we were able to design and build a new website that was easy for the client to keep up to date and cost less them less than 10% of what they paid for the previous site only a year earlier. --- Client Online Laser Training provides certified training courses to medical professionals who will be providing laser and IPL treatments. Brief The existing website performed poorly in search engine results and also had low conversion rate from visitors to sales of training courses. A new site to be built that is SEO optimised and also simplifies the visitor journey from landing page to purchase. Approach cforce adopted a ‘mobile first’ strategy by designing the site to be fully optimised for smartphones and tablets and then looking at how that design would flow onto larger screens. The site was built on Wordpress but links through to an existing payment gateway for the purchase of training courses. The route to purchase was made simpler and more obvious with larger, strongly-coloured purchase buttons. --- Client Etherlive are the UK’s leading provider of IT solutions to the events industry. Including provision of temporary wi-fi internet at events like WOMAD, Goodwood Festival of Speed. Brief Whilst the overall content of the previous website was ok; the site design look very dated and was difficult to access on mobile devices that were shown to be an increasing number of the site visitors. In additon the site did not take advantages many of the SEO opportunities. Approach It made sense to retain the existing WordPress content management system in order to minimise the time and costs involved in migrating content from one platform to another. A new WordPress theme was designed and implemented that used responsive design principles so that the site could easily be viewed on PC, tablet or smartphone. The SEO throughout the site was reviewed and improved and an ongoing monitoring and refinement strategy implemented. --- Client QED is an established provider of financial solutions not constrained by the requirements of more traditional lenders. This gives flexibility to service borrowers requirements with structured deals on the best possible terms. Brief To create a site that reflected QED’s professional and trustworthy approach to providing structured deals across a range of financial solutions. The facility to take on-line quote information which could be directly loaded into the client’s CRM system was a key requirement, ensuring QED could offer a quick and responsive service to clients. Approach cforce utilised the paintings of old masters to help portray stability, longevity, confidence and artistry. The ‘clean’ design, typography and graphics in complimentary tones, create a functional site that informs the user of the services on offer and provides plenty of opportunity for quotes/contacts to be created and fed directly into the clients CRM system. Another important thing that we considered was the vast amount of devices that the clients may use in order to access the website, so a responsive design was essential. The final result is a responsive website that can be viewed from tablets, smartphones and desktops without compromising the quality, usability or content. --- Client CyDen—manufacturer of Intense Pulsed Light products for the medical and beauty industries. Brief CyDen developed a revolutionary home-use IPL hair removal device under their iPulse brand. In the UK this was sold exclusively through Boots as an OEM product using the ‘Boots Smooth Skin’ name. A comprehensive campaign was required to launch the product and keep it in front of the target audience. Approach Having produced the product packing and user manual, cforce then created a promotional campaign which was rolled out across a number of activities. This included the design and production of in-store point-of-sale displays and brochures, large posters for shopping malls and high-profile ads in magazines such as Hello and OK. Support material was also produced to train and incentivise Boots’ staff on selling the product. --- Client Latchways plc—world’s leading manufacturer of fall protection systems, providing safety whenever anyone is working at height. Brief Latchways were launching a revolutionary rescue device that allowed a person to safely lower themselves to the ground if they had fallen whilst working at height. A worldwide launch for the product was required. Approach cforce devised the whole launch programme, including developing the name, branding and packaging of the product. For maximum impact we produced a short promotional video with a stuntman and ‘green screen’ chromakey technology to demonstrate the capability of the product, with the descent shot live. This video was then used on a huge video wall at the exhibition stand where the product was launched. It was also placed on the Latchways YouTube channel and promoted through email blasts and social media. Views of the video exceeded 35,000 in the first 12 months and led to £1. 3m of sales of the product in its first year on sale. We have also produced the video in many different language versions for use around the world. https://youtu. be/4cvX8V7GeVY --- Client Ascot Racecourse—the UK’s most prestigious horse racing venue and home to the famous Royal Ascot event which is the annual highlight of the UK horse racing season. Brief Royal Ascot is a premium event held annually, attended by The Queen, and known worldwide. In order for the event to run as smoothly as possible a wide range of communication activity is required for both visitors and staff. Approach cforce were initially involved with developing site maps for use in the Royal Ascot iPhone app. From this we have produced many communications items that involve site maps. This has included an interactive map for the Ascot website that allows visitors to see what areas their ticket allows them access to, on-site signage showing locations of restaurants and facilities as well as the comprehensive 96pp staff handbook which we have produced annually. --- Client SunGard plc—the world’s leading provider of disaster recovery/business continuity services. Brief SunGard have a very impressive customer list and hence good strong testimonials that help in their sales process. Approach Working within the tight brand guidelines (created by cforce a few years ago), we created a suite of case study documents highlighting the work done with high-profile customers. They are primarily made available online and incorporate interactive links to additional information; however we also produce printed versions for use at trade shows. --- Client cforce started working with Rhiannon Lambert when she was a young up and coming soprano singer that was making a big name for herself within the classical crossover genre. Now she is a highly-respected Harley Street nutritionist and best-selling author of “Re-Nourish”. Brief Rhiannon needed a strong online presence to raise her profile and provide the opportunity for people to hear her music. Approach cforce designed and produced this compelling yet relatively simple website to raise Rhiannon’s profile. It relied heavily on social media feeds to raise Rhiannon’s profile, which resulted in bookings all around the world. It also allowed samples of her music to be played, videos from her YouTube channel and the ability to buy her music from iTunes and other digital music outlets. We have also shot some of Rhiannon’s performances in 4K Ultra HD video for promotional use. --- Client Xtralite Rooflights—manufacturer of energy efficient (low U-value) rooflights. Brief There are huge benefits to working in natural daylight rather than artificial light. Xtralite needed to educate architects on these facts and then encourage them to specify their rooflights rather than use a generic specification. Approach We needed to position Xtralite as the UK authority on designing with daylight. One of the main activities was to design and produce this comprehensive specification guide. Stunning photography was used throughout, and the manual was distributed to the library of most architect’s practices. As legislation and products changed it went through a couple of revisions and became an online resource as architects moved away from printed literature as their key research tool. --- Client Castelan Group—provider of warranty products and repair services to furniture and electrical retailers and manufacturers. Brief When selling a major item to a consumer, furniture retailers needed a range of point of sale literature available to help them sell add-on warranties for the product being bought. Being a financial product, there was a large amount of ‘terms and conditions’ that have to be incorporated whilst still being an easy-to-understand communication piece. Approach Having already designed and developed the PremierCare sub-brand for use in consumer marketing; we designed and produced a range of DL-sized brochures for each of the different warranty products. There were both generic versions and also variants that could be co-branded with retailer logos for larger customers. --- Client Latchways plc—world’s leading manufacturer of fall protection systems, providing safety whenever anyone is working at height. Brief As Latchways have grown they have moved into new territories and launched new products to work in different industries. Their website therefore needs to be multi-lingual and contain a huge amount of information for the different products sold around the world. Approach This is the fifth generation of Latchways website developed by . cforce, the first being back in the early days of the internet in 1997. Built on the Drupal CMS platform, the site has over 1,200 pages of information across five languages. It has the capability to have different sitemaps and content between languages and all activity is fully tracked. It is highly search engine optimised (SEO), resulting in high first page Google rankings for many key phrases. More recently, e-commerce has been added to the site to allow direct sales of their ‘Personal Rescue Device’ product. --- Client Ascot Racecourse—the UK’s most prestigious horse racing venue and home to the famous Royal Ascot event which is the annual highlight of the UK horse racing season. Brief At all Ascot events, there are a huge number of permanent and temporary staff that require information on safety procedures, venue layout, passes, restaurant locations, etc. Approach cforce designed and artworked a pocket-sized manual for all staff to use. We produce two handbooks each year, one for Royal Ascot and the other for use at all the rest of Ascot’s race weekends. We print ~3,500 copies of each one as a quality, pur-bound handbook. For over five years we’ve been producing these handbooks annually. --- Client SunGard plc—the world’s leading provider of disaster recovery/business continuity services. Brief A means of regularly updating SunGard’s UK customers on industry trends as well as internal news and activities. Approach cforce first recommended a quarterly newsletter back in 1998 (then called the ‘Safetynet Standard’), and we have been regularly producing it ever since. Originally it was a printed newsletter of between 12 and 20 pages per issue which was litho-printed and mailed out quarterly. Now we create it as an electronic only newsletter, which is emailed out as a PDF. There are hyperlinks against each article to allow follow up information or enquiries. --- Client Medical Research Council—government funded body aiming to improve human health through world-class medical research. Brief The MRC purchases a huge amount of equipment and consumables. As a public body though, all major purchases must go through a tendering process; however many of the scientists throughout the organisation had a tendency to just order things directly. They therefore needed an internal campaign to educate all their staff on the legal requirement to use the tendering process. Approach We had already established a regular internal newsletter ‘The Facilitator’ which provides information on the benefits of purchasing through the MRC’s procurement department. To support this we designed and produced a range of posters and leaflets that were placed in public areas (staff rooms, canteens, receptions, etc) of all the MRC sites worldwide. Key staff were featured as champions of the procurement process. --- Client D-Marc—design and manufacture a patented rooftop barrier system that provides safety demarcation even in a high wind locations. Brief To ensure that the posts and barriers are installed correctly, clear instructions need to be shipped with every order. Approach By thoroughly understanding the installation process, . cforce were able to create a series of very clear illustrations. Although primarily created for use on the simple one-page mono instruction sheet we design to accompany every order; we also created more eye-catching colour versions that are used on the their website and in literature as an aid to selling the product. --- --- ## WPM Team --- ## Posts I’ve always been influenced by the music of Queen, and photography is a passion on mine. So when Brian May, Queen’s guitarist, started blogging about his life-long interest in stereo (3D) photography I had to give it a try. The ultimate subject for me was when Queen played a couple of exclusive gigs at Hammersmith Apollo in 2012 with Adam Lambert as their lead singer. This venue is a key location in the history of Queen, with their legendary Christmas Eve concert in 1975 having been filmed there.
